Client Services

The mission of the Client Services Department is to promote, establish and implement programs to empower residents to become self-sufficient and to support them through opportunities of social services, education, job training and employment. Through successful collaborations with partnering entities as well community agencies, Client Services’ goal has been to assist the residents in entering the workforce, obtaining GED & college degrees, saving towards homeownership, entrepreneurship, as well as establish prevention and awareness programs that deal with medical and mental health issues that affect their community.

Community & Supportive Services

Through successful collaborations with partnering entities and community agencies, Client Services provides basic services to residents in the areas of:
  • Job Training
  • Employment Opportunities for youth and adults
  • ACT/SAT Prep
  • After-school Tutorials
  • College Tours
  • Technical assistance for resident councils
  • Summer Camps
  • Domestic violence and health education for youth

Case Management & Relocation

Client Services oversees the case management, programs and activities of all residents and works with the resident leadership to identify service gaps. Staff establishes relationships with the developers, contractors and private management teams to ensure that the best interests and needs of the residents are met.

Thanks to HANO’s partnership with Southern University of New Orleans (SUNO), social work students obtaining their BSW and MSW degrees can perform an internship with HANO to assist with case management, needs assessments, grant writing and program implementation.

HANO is paperless

The Housing Authority of New Orleans announces the expanded Choice Neighborhood Initiatives Scholarship Awards Program. The Scholarship is now open to ALL HANO assisted residents (Public Housing and HCVP/Section 8 Participants). Awardees must be a current high school senior in metro New Orleans, LA with plans to attend an accredited two or four year college/university or enroll in a trade or technical school. Residents that are interested in returning to or enrolling in college for the first time, or attending a trade school or technical college are also eligible to apply. Children of HANO employees living in Public Housing or participants in the HCVP are eligible to apply and should contact the Department of Client Services directly for more information.
