Quick tips to use when preparing for an emergency:
Prepare a plan!
Talk with family members and develop a plan for emergency events. Develop a check
list, purchase, and store essentials in a safe location. Keep an emergency kit handy
and secure outdoor objects before a storm approaches. Remember to include pets in
your plan.
Evacuate when called!
Dial 3-1-1 to register for the City Assisted Evacuation Plan through the City of
New Orleans if you are in need of assistance in evacuating. Be sure to identify
your family members’ special needs and whether you will require medical attention.
Pack a small bag with essentials such as important paperwork, identification, medications
and prescriptions to keep handy in a convenient location.
